Competitive Benefits

    • Dental CoverageProvides reimbursement for basic, restorative and orthodontic services, coverage is subject to some maximums.
    • Extended Health Care Provides supplementary coverage for services including prescription drugs, paramedical services, hospital accommodation differential costs and vision care.
    • Group Life Insurance Provides financial protection and is paid to your beneficiary or estate in the event of your death while employed with Providence.
    • BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) Provides payment for the cost of required medical, surgical, obstetrical and diagnostic services from practitioners.
    • Group Life Insurance Provides additional financial protection over and above the group life insurance paid to your beneficiary in the event of accidental death while employed with Providence. An accidental dismemberment benefit is paid to you if you lose a limb, sight, hearing or speech as a result of an accident while employed with Providence.

    • Municipal Pension Plan (MSP) Provides a pension income that includes employee and employer contributions and is based on your salary and years of service upon retirement.
    • Employee and Family Assistance Program Confidential, voluntary, short-term counseling is provided for employees to dealing with a range of personal, family and workplace concerns at no cost.
    • Group Life Insurance Provides financial protection and is paid to your beneficiary or estate in the event of your death while employed with Providence.
    • Special Leave With Pay Special leave may be granted for compassionate leave, marriage and other special circumstances.
    • Maternity, Parental and Adoption Leaves Maternity, parental and adoption leaves are granted based on provisions within the collective agreements or terms and conditions for staff. A supplemental benefit may be payable to eligible employees.
    • Accidental Death and Dismemberment InsuranceProvides additional financial protection over and above the group life insurance paid to your beneficiary in the event of accidental death while employed with Providence. An accidental dismemberment benefit is paid to you if you lose a limb, sight, hearing or speech as a result of an accident while employed with Providence.

    • Employer Paid Specialty Nursing Training OpportunitiesRegistered Nurses who want to specialize can join a long history of education at PHC. With exemption of the in-house Perioperative (Operating Room) program, all courses are done through BCIT’s Specialty Nursing Program.
    • Employed Student Nurse ProgramThis paid employment experience allows students to consolidate the knowledge and skills learned in school while gaining increased exposure to the clinical setting.
    • PHC New Graduate (NG) Program Once you have gained employment with PHC you will automatically be part of the NG Program. Whether you are an RN, LPN or RPN hired in either a casual, part time or full time position you are part of the program.

    • Relocation assistance is generally offered to employees who are hired into regular, difficult to fill, nursing positions. However, non-nursing, difficult to fill positions are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and relocation assistance, up to an agreed upon maximum amount, may be approved by the Human Resources Recruitment department.
